World’s Thinnest Lens Material for High Prescriptions
Tokai has developed the world’s thinnest organic lens material with an index of 1.76, offering superior optical quality and aesthetics. This ultra-thin and durable material is available in various designs, including single-vision and progressive lenses, and can be customised with tinting and mirror coatings.
Another notable innovation is the Lutina material, which selectively blocks certain parts of the short-wave spectrum of light. Lutina provides 100% protection from UV rays and helps maintain the necessary retinal pigment—lutein—thereby supporting eye health.
Advanced Lens Coating Technologies
To complement their high-quality lens materials, Tokai offers a range of advanced coatings designed to enhance lens performance and durability:
- Ultra Shield Coating (USC): This flagship Green Multi-Anti-Reflective (MAR) coating offers up to six times more scratch resistance compared to standard coatings. It can also be combined with Blue Cut Coating (BCC) and Eternal Skin Coating (ESC).
- Eternal Skin Coating (ESC): Designed to reduce up to 50% of near-infrared rays (760nm-1400nm), which can be linked to ageing around the eyes, causing wrinkles and skin sagging.
- Blue Cut Coating (BCC): This additional Blue MAR coating reduces glare and screen flicker while offering up to 15% High Energy Violet (HEV) absorption (400nm-420nm), enhancing visual comfort during digital device usage.
